Elrick Catchment Aims and Objectives

The main aim of the 3 Dee Vision project in the Elrick Burn catchment is to improve the ecological status of the Elrick Burn. It is hoped this aim will be achieved through the following objectives:

  • The establishment of a SUDS wetland to receive and treat surface water drainage from a new Stewart Milne development together with a portion of the flow from the Elrick Burn. This is being made possible by the co-operation of the Stewart Milne Construction group and their donation of additional land.
  • An investigation of the Westhill surfacewater drainage system to locate and quantify the extent of domestic sewage contamination due to cross connections.
  • Site investigations, of the neighbouring industrial estates to identify any working practices potentially impacting on the quality of surface water runoff, and subsequent recommendations.
